When the company was founded in 1969 by Roger Gingras, Machinerie G.A.S.
Ltée began its operations in rented quarters. With his machine and welding shop,
Mr. Gingras quickly built a solid reputation for the quality of his work. As
a result, business was booming and he decided to build his first shop.
In the following years, Mr. Gingras was asked to design a variety of machines, which highlighted his skill at designing and innovating in the manufacturing of new products. In 1978, Mr. Gingras incorporated the business and expanded once again by building a new shop. Two years later, in spite of the recent expansion, Mr. Gingras was faced with a lack of space in his welding shop. To solve this problem, he decided to design a machine that would combine the functions of a shear and a press-brake.
In 1982, after more than a year of development, the first prototype was operational. In the light of very promising results, he decided to patent the Shear/Press-Brake. Two other prototypes were built over the following four years. The GINGRAS was finally ready for marketing. Since 1987, the Shear/Press-Brake has been sold across North America and has acquired an enviable reputation.
